Heading south towards Antsirabe. Discovering the highlands of Madagascar, with its rice fields and houses built in traditional architectural style… Stop at Ambatolampy, a small town famous for its artisanal foundry manufacturing aluminium kitchen utensils. Continuation to Antsirabe, very well known locally for being the Malagasy Vichy.
Visiting an animist site in the morning. Hiking and encountering pilgrims to possibly attend one of their cults. Crossing fields and streams to enjoy the beautiful scenery and a quiet moment in the countryside in Madagascar. Back in town in the afternoon.
Tritriva and Andraikiba, the volcanic lakes in the area are very popular tourist sites, you will learn several legends built around them. We will spend the day to visit them. Time allowing, the hike can be extended to Betafo, also known for its blacksmiths, or you can visit workshops miniature objects and confectionery.
Taking a rickshaw ride after breakfast. It’s a customary means of transport in the city of Antsirabe. Then, back to Antananarivo.
